This weekend marks the one year anniversary of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami that killed nearly 16,000 people and left 3,300 unaccounted for. I am sure we can all remember what exactly we were doing when word of this disaster hit. I remember the variety show I was watching on TV Japan was abruptly interrupted and then cut to live footage of the tsunami coming on shore. Everything was surreal as cars and trucks were floating in this sea of black water and homes vanished in an instant.
While media coverage of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami has ceased and many of us think it’s already been one year since the disaster, we need to keep in mind that it’s only been one year. There is still a lot of rebuilding to be done. Japan still needs our help, our prayers.
If you are interested in donating to relief efforts, Crash Japan is a legitimate organization.
